FSC

What is FSC?

FSC stands for Forestry Stewardship Council which is an independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world's forests. RPM has achieved FSC Chain of Custody certification, which means that we can trace the paper trail of your job back to the forest that the paper was sourced from. More and more companies are insisting on FSC Chain of Custody certification for their printed material to show their commitment to the environment. RPM is 100% in support of these initiatives. By referring to the FSC website you can check their database of certified suppliers. Click here for further information and FAQ’s.

So you want to print the FSC logo on your job. What do you do?

  1. Tell us! We have to inform our certification body each time we use the FSC logo and FSC jobs follow a different paper trail through the building to normal jobs. If you don’t tell us that your order is FSC the job will not be valid and may have to be destroyed.
  2. Choose which paper to use. This may be done in consultation with your RPM account manager. Our FSC paper will either be Mixed or Recycled. Commonly used FSC papers and their claims are listed here.
  3. Decide on the label. FSC has very strict rules on the style and placement of its logo, which must be adhered to at the design stage or the job becomes invalid. We will provide the FSC label artwork in-house as it will contain our trademark licence code. It is possible to print with your own code if you have one, please ask. Refer to the FSC On-Product Claims Factsheet.

The latest full published standard relating to logo use can be accessed here.
